S is for She Keeps Bees

SHE KEEPS BEES: is an indie rock duo made up of Brooklyn residents Jessica Larrabee and Andy LaPlant. They are unsigned, and have realsed 3 full length albums and 2 EPs. The vocals have a smokey sound to them, and the instrumentals have a really clean sound to them, with most tracks having just bass and guitar and drums. Their first album came out in 2006 titled 'Minisink Hotel'. Their latest one being released last year titled 'Dig On'.
I quite like their song called 'Cuddle Alone', but you should also check out Ribbon, which can be found on their CD 'Nests' in the link on their name.

So as usual I can never pick just one band. So S is also for SKATERS: Their EP 'Schemers' came out this year. They are also an indie rock sound, situated in New York City. They have a grittier sound, with a more upbeat feel.
A good song is called 'Are We Just Doomed?'

I would have put SHE & HIM on here as well, but I figure that most of you know about Zooey Deschanel's band with Matthew Stephen Ward. They have an amazing old sound, and have had a few albums out. If you haven't heard them click their name and it links you to their myspace page. I love both of her albums 'Volume One' and 'Volume Two' they have a very 60's sound and feel I think, and her voice is quite disctinctive. One of the one I like is called 'Sweet Darlin'

Love and Peace.
