Broadway/West End

So, as I am graduating from university this year, In JULY! I have had to think about what I want to do with my career. And since I am studying Drama and Theatre Studies with English, and I sing constantly- I have decided and realized that my secret, and now public desire is to be in a musical on broadway or the West End. (This is of course on of many career opportunities on the table right now, supposing that this one doesn't pan out, travel writing and physical theatre and other such things are also options.)

However, my current list of musicals I would be happy to be in goes as follows:
* Wicked
* Cats
* West Side Story
* Hairspray
* Chicago
* Singing in the Rain
.... and so on

So it's time to get cracking. Starting to go on auditions and keeping my voice limber, as well as emailing contacts I have and seeing if they have any contacts in musical theatre.

Bucket List

My Bucket List- Well it's more a list of things I want to do before I'm 30. So I have 9 years :D Since my 21st is on tuesday march 6th 2012. I can't wait!

Here is the list as it stands now:
sing in a jazz club
be in a broadway musical
live in europe
live in new york
learn to play piano
learn to read music properly
learn sign language (in progress)
watch all the star wars movies/bond films
learn to scuba dive
be published somewhere
walk a red carpet event
Get 100,000 views on a youtube singing video
Make my own album
be in a film
be on a tv show or series
learn to use photoshop
have a photograph in a magazine
go to antarctica to see penguins
learn to write with my right hand
go to a film festival
go to a camping music festival
learn spanish and french
volunteer with big cats
volunteer in asia
Work in a summer camp in america

2012

So since this year is not the end of the world.... I've decided to reassume my position as occasional blogger. I didn't blog the entire year last year because, well since I'm being honest, I absolutely forgot about blogspot. SHOCK! I know it's sort of a crime. But who knows who reads these anyway right? 

Well it's my final 6 months of university. This thought blows my mind, my brain is splattered across all four walls of my room as you read. Physically impossible, but hey, that is what it feels like. There is this nervous anxious excited energy that is recognizable in everyone who is finishing this June, and I love it. Although I know I am going to be pursuing the career most associated with nomads and unsettled low paid hopefuls, I am just happy to be going into the world and trying it out. 

Since the age of 5 I have been a student. I am also many other things, but as I near the end of my university adventure I can't wait to not be a student for a bit and just explore the world. I expect it shall be a shock to both my mind and my wallet. They should really create halfway houses for students who aren't quite ready to handle the real world and need a slow transition into it! But Alas, this cannot be. 

So fishes, get ready to take the metaphorical plunge!
